Help Immigrants In Our Community
The Statue of Liberty stands in New York Harbor welcoming immigrants to our shores from the world over. The United States has always been a sanctuary for our fore-parents through the generations. While our country welcomes immigrants and refugees for many reasons, what has long made our country exceptional is our commitment to human decency, that all people are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And it is for this reason that there has been such uproar against the president’s Muslim ban and recent ICE raids. Under the new administration our country has lost its way. It is our job to protect those who are unable to help themselves with Lady Liberty as our guide.
Another Blow to Trump’s Immigration Policies:
A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from enforcing a threat to take away funds from sanctuary cities. In his ruling, Judge William H. Orrick sided with Santa Clara County, the city of San Francisco and other jurisdictions, who argued that a threat to take away federal funds from cities that do not cooperate with some federal immigration enforcement could be unconstitutional.
